First Six Weeks
Rules and procedures will be heavily emphasized the first few days. We are beginning Chapter 1. We will learn about communities, rules, laws, and the difference between rural, suburb, and urban.

We are still discussing where we live. Please help your child locate Texas and the United States on a map or globe. Locate the capital of Texas and the capital of the United States. Also, talk about Texas being a part of the United States, then talk about the United States being a part of the continent-North America. These facts will be discussed all year.

Our beginning map skills include the four main directions on a map (north, south, east, & west), knowing they are located on a compass rose and labeling the compass rose, and using a map key to find things on a map. This, too, will continue throughout the year.
