In the next couple of weeks, touch points will be taught. First, we will work on learning the placement of the points. Once we are familiar with those we will use them in addition facts. These facts will have the dots at first and later will not. For our math work in class and homework, you will not always see the points on the numbers, but please help your child practice. We will be practicing flashcards in class and begin fact drills. Once we have the hang of the points, we will incorporate it with subtraction facts.
I recommend you purchasing some addition and subtraction flashcards to help your child practice at home. Choose 10 cards to practice each night. Depending on your child's progress, add a couple more problems to the stack to learn. These cards may be found at Wal-mart, HEB, Brookshire Bros., & the dollar stars. |
