Tardies |
A great start to the day makes a great day in Kindergarten!
Beginning on Monday, August 22, your child needs to be at school in class by 8:00.
The first bell rings at 7:50, and the students are allowed to come to the room from the library or cafeteria. We begin working at 7:50 so getting here promptly helps your child make a smooth transition from home to school.
At 8:00, the tardy bell rings. If your child arrives after that time, please take them to the office for a tardy sticker. Tardy stickers are kept and reviewed by the principal at certain increments. (3,6,9, etc). After 6 tardies, they are automatically assigned to lunch detention for every tardy.
Why are tardies a big deal? We LOVE to have your child in the classroom. They have a chance to greet everyone, unpack backpacks, get out notes, put up their folder. Every class has work that is reviewed first thing every day, and your child needs to be here to get a good start to instruction. Also, the older grades have RTI tutorial at 8:00 so if their big brothers and sisters need to be here, so do they! It is very hard on your child if they have to walk in and the class is already started. They feel left out.
Please help your child by getting them to school at 7:50!
We appreciate your help.

Things To Remember |
1. Please label all things especially coats, backpacks, and school supplies. This includes initials on each crayon. I know, I know….. but it makes it easier when things are lost and they want their own things back.
2. Children need to wear their bus and car tags during the first weeks. Please help them learn their bus number. Return the tags each morning.
3. Lunch tickets are $2.25 daily. I suggest weekly or monthly payments. The money should be taken to the cafeteria as soon as your child comes to school. It does not come to me.
4. After the first few days, I encourage you to join your child for lunch occasionally. Please send a note if you are coming so we can order food. Our lunchtime is 11:05-11:35.
5. Please send a towel for resting. We nap the first semester, but we occasionally use the towels to stretch out and read. Towels will be sent home for cleaning so remember to replace it.
6. After an absence, send a note with the reason for the absence. Send one even if the school sent the child home.
7. To follow district rules, please sign in the office. You will need an ID or driver’s license to check them out of school.
8. I welcome any parent help. Please sign up to help with parties, snacks, tutoring, making things, etc. WE NEED AND WANT YOU!
9. If you need to visit with me, please feel free to contact me. My conference time is 8:30-9:20. The school number is (979) 277-3870.
