Challenging Scientific Investigations
CSI
CSI, Challenging Scientific Investigations begin during 2007-2008 school year as a science program to involve all 2nd and 3rd grade students in a hands on, laboratory approach to the Science TEKS at their grade level. This same school year, CSI also implemented a supplemental program to identified Gifted and Talented 4th graders who would benefit from a rigorous, challenging and enriching program connecting science to the four core subject areas.
In 2008-2009, BISD added CSI grade 5 to identified Gifted and Talented 5th Grade students. Students in CSI grade 5 are offered experiences with hands-on, challenging lab activities to help them understand science through a balance of content, process skills, problem solving and practical applications of science to the real world. For the upcoming 2009-2010 school year, CSI will expand the 5th grade goals and objectives to Gifted and Talented 6th grade students as well. We will also include all 4th grade and 5th grade Science students in hands-on activities to meet the specific goals and objectives for their grade level.
