2009-2010 marks Eric Rettig's 18th year as a band director at Brenham High School, serving as head band director the last 10 years. His responsibilities include conducting the Marching and Symphonic bands and team teaching at the Junior High and Middle School. Under his direction, the Brenham High School Symphonic Band has received numerous awards including consistent superior ratings at UIL contest, and advancing to the State Honor Band Contest three times, in 2003 the band finished 3rd at the State level. The marching band has won many awards and finished as a State Marching band finalist in 2003. Each year, hard working Brenham High School Band students consistently make Region, Area and All-State Band. A graduate of Texas Christian University, Mr. Rettig is a member of: Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association and Phi Beta Mu. Away from school, he enjoys spending time with wife Karla and two beautiful little daughters, Bailee and Leah. He is also an award winning skier. (Only because there were only 5 people entered in his age category and he finished 3rd)

Micheal Hanson |

Micheal Hanson currently serves as associate band director with the Brenham Cub Band. His responsibilities include the marching band, directing the Concert Band at the high school and teaching beginning saxophone and flute at Brenham Middle School. Mr. Hanson is a graduate of Texas State University-San Marcos (previously Southwest Texas State University), where he sat as principal saxophone for the wind ensemble from Fall 1996 to Fall 2000. Prior to his position in Brenham, Mr. Hanson taught at Clara Driscoll Middle School in San Antonio, TX. Mr. Hanson's professional affiliations include Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Golden Key International Honour Society. He enjoys reality TV, pop culture and board games. Mr. Hanson's most meaningful recognition was being named Wal-Mart and Sam's Club Teacher of the Year for 2006-2007.

Bryan Winningham is an active percussion educator, arranger, performer, and clinician. Over the past eight years, Bryan has taught at many high school programs in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Texas, including the fifteen-time State Champion Lafayette High School Band in Lexington, Kentucky. Bryan has also presented clinics at the University of Tennessee-Martin, and was on staff at the Yamaha Sounds of Summer Clinic at the University of Kentucky in 2007. In 2002, Bryan was a performing member of the Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps, and in 2008, was on the front ensemble staff of the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps. Bryan received his Master’s degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Kentucky under Professor James Campbell, and received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Tennessee-Martin under Professor Nancy Mathesen and Dr. Julie Hill. He is an Education Artist with Innovative Percussion. Bryan will begin his second year at Brenham High School in 2009-2010. |
