About Brenham Junior High School
Brenham Junior High, Brenham Independent School District’s campus for seventh and eighth graders, is maintaining the excellent tradition of first class education in the state of Texas. BJH was awarded as a Texas Exemplary School for the 2008-2009 school year and has been a Texas Recognized Campus in 2005-2006, 2006–2007, and 2009-2010.

This success has come under the leadership of Artis Edwards, who has been BJH Principal for ?? years. Assisting Edwards during these successes have been Assistant Principal, Richard Fletcher, Dean of Students/Administrator for Curriculum & Instruction, Vicki Hanak, and an amazing team of caring and talented teachers and staff.

Originally the building was built as a bomb shelter during the cold war, and was later converted to the Brenham High School. A new BHS was built in ??, so BJH split to form Brenham Middle School (for grades 5-6) and grades 7-8 moved into the campus vacated by BHS.

The school's main building is two stories high, with the first floor holding the main offices, library, and the majority of classes while the second floor, being underground, contains the main gym, eating areas, and a few classrooms.

A wing was built later on, called the "Science Wing" that houses the Science and Art Departments. Another wing was added later containing the English Language Arts and Reading Departments. Both wings currently house the same departments for BJH and were renovated this past summer. A practice gym, band hall, portable classrooms, and tennis courts round out the rest of the campus.

If you would like to visit BJH, then please check in at our visitor booth and come by the office for someone to help guide you around the campus. We hope to see you soon!
