HOSTS is dedicated to serving students who benefit from one-on-one learning time with a mentor. At Brenham Elementary, we have 60-70 kindergarten, first, and second grade children in our program. Each child comes to HOSTS for thirty minutes on Monday through Thursday.

About 240 mentors work with the children in our HOSTS classroom each week. They read with the child, practice vocabulary, and complete an activity to help the child become a better reader. Everything that they need for the lesson is in the child's notebook.

Everyone wins in HOSTS---students, teachers, parents, and ultimately the community. It is a working partnership that extends the reaches of the school and makes learning to read fun and special.
